Dyson Automotive
Engineering Quality Support

Our Client needed Quality Engineering support in the early stages of an automotive development program to instill automotive standards and best practices in a new team that had experiences widely mixed from many different industry sectors.

After the first baseline Audit of Dysons development process the following Quality initiatives were started:

  • The Implementation of an Engineering wide quality improvement program aiming to fill process quality gaps as well as capability gaps
  • A comprehensive DFMEA training and execution support program with the support of APIS IQ Software
  • A Project to define and source internal inspection and measurement equipment to support the manufacturing launch raging from simple gauging equipment to high end CMMs

After over a year with the Team most of the commodity teams had the right level of quality support structure to develop a high quality product. Furthermore, there was a clear long-term quality plan in the process of being executed to support the developments from its early stages up to stable production volumes.

Also, by the end of the project most commodity teams showed a robust understanding of DFMEA and their creation process as well as comprehensive DFMEA assessments documented in APIS IQ to enable a smooth start into the next development phases.

Furthermore, new quality control equipment was fully specified and on ordered ready to arrive in time for the manufacturing launch phase.

The team of RiverRouge supported us with support in the areas of DFMEA creation and robust automotive engineering processes. I was very satisfied with the speed of response and the caliber of people RiverRouge provided for our programs and I would not hesitate to hire them again if we would need external quality support in the future.
