Knorr-Bremse – Launch Support, Supplier Development and Resident Support

The team at Knorr was battling through a tough Crossrail Project Phase at the time they contacted us. Knorr was manufacturing the platform screen door systems for the underground stations and where just reaching the point where production orders had to be placed at the supply base. However, at that stage not all required drawings were completed and also some validation tests were still open and the manufacturing site not ready to receive parts for the launch phase.

  • Alignment of Drawing Quality
  • Supplier Development and Resident Support
  • Interim NPI Project Management
  • APQP Process Implementation
  • Interim Management of Manufacturing Quality Engineers
  • Interim Installation Quality Management
  • Definition of Control Plans and End of Line Tests

After the initial engineering gaps had been closed the team was quickly able to place supplier orders to start building up the required stock for the manufacturing launch. This was followed by a number of Supplier development activities to ensure the suppliers were producing the required volumes to the required quality. Once the critical suppliers were stabilized our team concentrated on managing the manufacturing site ramp-up and the starting installation processes that a smooth handover to the cross-rail team was possible station by station.

The Team of RiverRouge joined us at a crucial point of our project. Their hands-on support was an urgently needed boost for the program at the time they joined us and there was no hesitation of that team to take over real responsibilities. At times we had up-to 8 quality professionals from RiverRouge on-board and the team very quickly picked up speed and got stuck-in to work through a wide variety of open Quality problems we where facing at that time. If we would have not had this support the project would have been in significant trouble. I would not hesitate to hire this team again.
